OCEAN LITERACY: THE IMPORTANCE OF DISSEMINATING MARINE SCIENCES

The ocean is a source of food, energy, minerals and, increasingly, medicines.  It regulates the Earth’s climate and is home to the widest variety of life and ecosystems on our planet.  Many of us are unaware just how our daily actions affect the ocean’s health and its sustainability.  The majority of us don’t know how the ocean’s health influences our daily lives, or about the global reach and importance of the sea and our oceans in medical, financial, social, political and environmental terms.

At MEDCLIC, following in the wake of the United Nations, we continue to be committed to promoting ocean literacy.

'Far and away the greatest threat to the ocean, and thus to ourselves, is ignorance' (Sylvia Earle, President of Mission Blue)
